Will the carb and tank from a 3 1/2 HP Briggs work on a 5 HP motor?

What engine numbers do we have?  Vertical or horizontal?

There both horizontal shaft. The carbs tank and controls look the same.

I think the 3 1/2 is alittle smaller when you try to bolt it up. Atleast on the older ones. Good Luck, Rick

Without looking, without knowing, I'd venture a yes they might.

If its a suction carburetor (diaphragm to pump fuel, mounted directly on the tank) then they are probably identical.  If it is a Briggs float type, we're back to "they might" again.

I'd take the model-type-code and plug them into the Briggs website and check the IPL's.

Yes, the 3-5hp engines used the same carb.

I'll post the number this weekend, the 3.5 HP is a 1995 and the 5 HP is a 1998 model.
