Vanguard 14 hp v-twin for $225 for a re-power?  Needs carb work and no idea on specs or hours.

Thoughts... beside crank size/style and hours...

good motor. if its clean, and taken care of, but not running i would say dont go above 200.  parts tend to be a little pricey

I'd probably jump on it if it came up for sale here.  The only ones I've seen at that price have been basket cases where the owner clearly states there is an issue.  Otherwise, used are starting at $500 and up.

Here is the note with it:

I have a 14 v twin vanguard for sale. It has electric and pull start it is a horizontal shaft. It does need caberator work it has 90 lbs of compression in both cylinders. The fuel pump works also. I would consider trades or offers.

I am going to call on specs and if it is a tapered crank I will pass.  I want a re-power that will not compromise functionality.

The seller may not know what is meant by tapered crank.

I was going to get the "spec" info and figure out that myself.  Prolly true.

My 20hp vanguard has a two barrel carb, a Nicci brand import and the kit alone is $80. Non adjustable mains and you need to get specs to have the right main sizes in the kits, there are several. Not sure what smaller hp ones have. many times the fuel pumps are weak on older engines also, makes for lots of cranking before starting. They are just pulse pumps.

IF it runs , its a steal----new Horiz Vanguard 14 is likely $7-$800? . I'd love to have it.
