Quick Question On Mower Deck

Will a jd317 deck work on my jd314 ? I'm in the middle of negoiations with a man with a 317 deck Needs blades and a little paint . Has all new bearings Idler spring and pulleyand a mule drive for $150 .I want to be sure before I leap.

Yes it will.  The 120/140/300/312/314/317/316k/316 Onan/318/322/330/332 all take the same decks.  Make sure you get draft arms and the mule drive for the deck you are purchasing. 

 

Sounds fair with the mule included.

Travis  Are the draft arms on the 317 different than 314 ?

Arms are tied to the deck and not the tractor.  I know that a model 41 (got one for my 120) takes a different arm than the 48 deck I have for the 314.  Not sure if that answers your question. 

 

Even if you are missing something I would think it would be easy to find what you need for your 314.

You bet!  Let us know how it plays out.  Got me thinking about calling on a $50 314 deck on CL in Omaha...

The deck will work but you will need a shorter belt for the 314 as the PTO pulley is lower than on the twin cylinder engine. I think it's 2" lower so a 4" shorter belt is needed. When getting my 49 snow thrower I did some research and found this info. on the JDparts site when looking at drive belt part no's.

Brian is right and I forgot about that... belts are impacted by the engine and size of deck.
