Tested out the newly rebuilt starter generator I got yesterday. (need the lights to work for the winter LOL)
I could have bought all the parts and did the rebuild myself but it was about the same price to swap out my old one and get another instead.

Where did you get the rebuilt starter from Brian? We are going to need to replace two of them on the Bolens.

I got it at a local electrical repair shop near me.
Seems like I'm always having problems with these Bolens charging.

I looked a bit online but they are quite expensive, plus you have to add the shipping cost. :wallbanging:

Sams $164 plus shipping!
There are some listed on ebay also... something like $149 plus shipping
I paid $150 for mine

I would like to find a local place with a warranty to go with it. That way if it stops working we can take it back. For some reason the Delco chargers do seem to have their own mind. I don't know if it is because they are more exposed to the elements or what.

You also have to check your regulator. If that is not up to par you burn the generator right up. Had one starter totally disintegrate and burn up a while ago LOL
The generator I bought came with a 3 month warranty. I think sams had a 1 year warranty.
I think there are so many problems with these because they are a closed unit and run at high temps all the time
