When I had the portable garage apart for repairs I did some organizing; with everything rearranged I was able to put the compressor trailer in there. Ever since I built it, it has been in the garage taking up lots of space. I now have the 124 in its place. I need to change the coil (I already have one) change the battery wires, and what ever else I may come across.

Here it is, waiting to be worked on.

Ryan, that 124 looks sweet.  I'm glad you gave that cub a nice place to rest.  It looks very contented.

That was my Dad and I when we restored it. You can't really tell in this picture, but it is diamond plate.

I got the coil swapped, the old one was pretty bloated on the bottom. I still don't have power out of the coil though! The (-) and (+) terminals on the coil both have power when it is supposed to; it also has a new condenser and new points. What could be the problem? I already checked all of my grounds.

Appearently,it was not enough for the test light but I put a plug in it and it has spark! I put some gas in it and a shot of starter fluid in the carb but it won't fire. It has good spark and the starting fluid did not foul the plug, any ideas?

Maybe the plug is failing under compression.

I tried again today, and noticed the spark was not consistent, it was intermittent; what I mean is it would have spark for a few seconds, stop for a few seconds and come back. I checked my grounds again and got consistent spark. I got it to fire twice on starter fluid, but it was not very strong. I changed the spark plug as Levi said but it did not help any. I will have to charge up a car battery so I can turn it over better, I don't want to kill this little lawn and garden battery.

have you checked to see if the points are gapped right after you changed them? or the coil could be weak and how old is the wire from the coil to the plug and how new is the coil you swapped in?

Yes, the points are set right, the coil is new and the old plug wire didn't look very healthy so I changed it with another new one.

I don't think it is anything electrical. Does the last little bit of starter fluid in the can work less then it is supposed to? I was using the last tiny little bit I had left.
