How Can You Identify A K Series 14 Hp From Say A 10 Hp ?

Is there any dead give aways with out pulling the head ? If it has no tags ??

On the PTO side it should have raised letters on the block. I think at the bottom (under) the circle were the PTO shaft is. I'll go out and look in a minute.c

It is at the top as in the picture. But it is not fool proof. My K241 (10hp) has no markings.

Look @ the flywheel shroud for the engine's model#..  Look in this BOOK for any information you need about any K-series!!

I believe that the 8,10,and 12 have 9 head bolts.The 14,and 16 have 10 head bolts.

Here's a little something on the head gaskets:

I'm not sure what differences you can tell without removing the head!

Thanks everyone for the responces ! We just picked up another Ford LGT 100 and it has a 10 bolt head!!
This rig is in very good shape too. And we for another parts rig with it with all the mower goodies too. Now we have 6 Ford rigs, 3 standard shift and 3 hydros.

Keith, can you get to the carb #s? That might tell which engine it is by the carb size/#'s.
