Just an update I was given an onan JC series generator that the windings were shot in that has now become the power plant for this project it is a 4 cylinder air cooled engine that rotates backwards from the Chevy so it can go in with the fly wheel to the back. I extended the frame again now I need to lengthin the drive shaft a couple inches and figure out a changing system for it plus all the other small things that need done

It won't be quite the monster your plans started it out to be, but that's still a lot of engine.
How long is it compared to the other possibilities?

It is 4 inches longer than the 283 as a bare block the 283 would probably be a few inches longer with the water pump fan and radiator

I was hoping you would finish it with the Luv 4 banger.  I happen to have an old Luv truck with a good motor but a bad trans.

I wonder if the Luv motor would work in a 316?? :smilewink:  I found one of those without the motor in it.
