Any John Deere guys have a 330? Found one for sale and checking with you guys for some good or bad pointers or things to look for on a 1986 GT.

Check the steering, the driveshaft for slop, whether the hydraulic lever functions as it should, (not a big deal, but a negotiating point) same with the hydro lever, (if it creeps forward or back when returned to neutral) smoke on startup, (how much, which color) smoke while running after warm and under a load, and cleanliness of the cooling system and block. The shortcoming of the first diesel 300 series was the cooling system is undersized and must be kept clean.

Otherwise, good luck! 2nd most fuel efficient JD diesel gt ever made, behind the (would ya believe?) the 430.

I'd believe it.  My John Deere F935 "Front Mower" has the same engine & mows & mows on a gallon of diesel.  The F935 is rated at 22hp while it's the identical engine to the 20hp Yanmar on the 430.  But the 430's diesel is governed to 3350rpm, while the F935's 3TN72 is governed at 3,600rpm.

Don't we all wish we had things back that we used to own, I know I do. Tractor house list there's a little over $3,000.  something to think about.

$2,000 is high for a 330, imo; unless it's restored or has more attachments than a mower deck. If it's just the tractor and deck in decent condition around 1,000 hours I would be expecting a 332.

If in pristine condition, maybe it would be worth the 2 grand. But then thinking about what you get today for the same money, and how long (not long) that new piece of tin will last, then 2 grand isn't that bad at all really.  Yes, the 330 has a Yanmar 3TN-68 diesel.
