Hey. The free gravely 812 was really dirty and didn't run. I towed it up the hill. It is in the work bay. It took two days to wash it. My friend came over, so we had it running in three hours. Man it runs good, I have to see if there is oil in the transmission. What kind of oil should I put in the trans?

The owners manual says 6 quarts of SAE 30 to plug level. Plug is on the right side of the transmission near the bottom. You can down load 3 manuals for free today. Good Luck, Rick

BTW when you get it running right you will love it.

How are things going with your 812? Any updates? Do you still have it? Is there a story to tell? Pictures please..

Fluid
After Running for two hours it just quit. Pushed it into the garage and pulled spark plug out to test compression. No compression. Then we took the head off.
The piston would not move. I rebuild the motor now, runs like new.

A friend of my picked me up a 50 inch deck. Was cutting grass with it one day but the front clutch is in bad shape, so the 74 812 gravely is on hold for now.
