That is shocking news. It sounds like he was a very positive influence on you and others. He will live on in the hearts and minds of all his students!

I am very sorry to hear about your teacher.  The real caring, hardworking, and committed teachers are getting fewer and fewer to find.  This man sounds like he knew what he was talking about and had a heart to share it.  We need more of his kind!

Did he leave a family?

Carry on his legacy, now, by using the tricks he already taught you and go teach someone else: not necessary in a classroom, but maybe a friend or your future kids.

Ben W.

its gonna be rough getting through this but it makes want to try to learn everything i can about welding i know i will never learn everything mike knew but i can try like hell and hopefully who ever the school finds to replace him will be just as good of a teacher as far as getting the knowledge across to us.

Sorry to hear that BW..

My aunt Kay was married to Robert Duell quite a while ago & they lived in Corning on the west end of 1st street then they moved to Addison...  I wonder if they were related?  It is moments like this that make us stop & think how precious life is..  I have experienced it personally too many times with loved ones as I live on..  My grandpa. My mom, 2 of our sons and lately its been my aunts & uncles down your way..

Life is a journey, we are just passing though here so enjoy your friends & life while you are..

Speaking of welding my uncle Bill was a pro but he's down in Virginia now..  One day @ a time..

I am so sorry to hear of the loose of a great instructor to you and many others. Sounds like he has meant a lot with you. Like all the others above, they have said exactly what I would have said and felt for you Greg. I am glad you are enjoying the welding as I did when I was doing it and if I don't say so myself I was a damn good one. How about you follow in those foot steps and be great yourself to make your instructor proud.

Dick

Very sorry for your loss.

I was especially close to a teacher when I was in Jr. and Sr. High School. Spent the summers working with him and his kids at the town park. He is the one that got me into motorcycles and he and I toured together for several years after I graduated.

When he died, I felt very empty, but I will always remember the good times and laughs we had together. I sometimes will just start smiling over something he had said or done. Damn I miss him!
