Are you sure it wasn't a spill that wrinkled the paint to start with?

With all the effort you have in this, I would do a tank liner kit instead of taking a chance. It's probably your best option to fix it anyways.

One other thought, gas will wick a long ways, are you sure the fitting was in there well? No seap around the threads?

Got a lot painted yesterday and today. I got both sides of all of the rims painted with the first coat, most of the outside of the hood painted and the inside ready to paint. Now I just need to figure out what I am going to do about my gas tank.

All is looking real good !,

I've checked small gas tanks before with water & air for leaks.

Get a tub (big enough to hold the tank) , add water to tub , now add a little air thru supply outlet of tank while under the water, with cap on and gas cap vent hole blocked and hope for the best.  Not real fancy, but that's how they use to check & fix radiators, tanks, etc. back when there were radiator shops.

I got the rest of the rims finished and tires put on. Got all of them on the tractor and got everything ready to drive it. I finally got it out and drove it around on Thursday night. I changed the muffler since the one on it sat inside the hood and I didn't want it to turn it black. The muffler I put on is off of my ss12 and was slightly modified by the previous owner, and re modified by me. The carb needs adjusted for the new muffler, but it runs pretty good and drives great. Now I just need to finish the seat.

Glad you got to drive it! That's always the most satisfying feeling, getting one back together and driving it around.

I presented my project yesterday, passed with an 80% average. I'm happy that its finally over, wasn't that hard and didn't take that long.
