It was a nice balmy 66* here today, and I thought I'd try getting the 1886FL running.
First off I put a new battery in as the old one was toast.
Now it was time to see if it was pumping fuel. I took out the inline fuel filter and cranked over the engine...nothing was coming out, so I'm guessing that the fuel pump is going to need to be rebuilt or replaced.
Off to plan B. I had picked up a small plastic gas tank from my local 'mower shop guy' and plugged it into the fuel line to use as a gravity flow setup.
Put some gas in it, plumbed it into the carb, cranked the engine....and nada
Just as a double check, I gave the carb a spritz of starting fluid, and it fired instantly on that.
So, it looks like there is also going to be a carb rebuild in the works as well.
I guess it will be another week or so before I can work on it again, as it's supposed to rain tomorrow, and then on Tue the temp is forecast to drop back down to mid 30s as a high.
Sure wish Spring would get here.
