This is listed as a JCPENNY tractor, looks kind of sturdy.  Anybody know who made it for Pennys?

MTD, a 990 model. Very sturdy GT, imo.

Should have added, the seller lists it as a 16 horse, hydraulic 3 point and hydro static transmission.

It's also listed at 1200 with only a plow, no deck.  Seems pretty high to me.

What are the specs on it, weight, rear tire size, solid trans?  From the pics, it's in good shape.

Seems high to me, also. 990's weigh around an even 1,000 pounds.

Rear tire size is the killer, original is 27x9.5x15. Replacements in that size are spendy.

Eaton M11 hydro. Same as the Eaton 1100, just the rotation is backwards.

So this would be a pretty solid tractor, somewhat like the Massey/Snapper 1655s or perhaps the Deere 400's ?

It is also a 2-speed rear axle in addition to being hydrostatic.

Watch the back of the frame, some years/models had a notch and it would tend to crack there. Not the end of the world to fix, but be aware. Might be a bargaining chip if it is cracked.

Dashboards are flimsy and almost all are broken so don't be surprised if this one is.

Check the bearings in the mid PTO. They are standard ball bearings and not too bad to change if it needs it. Again, maybe a bargaining chip.

Missing the original muffler, by the looks. Does that one just point straight down? Might want to add a tailpipe of some sort if so.

990s are great tractors. That one looks to be in pretty good condition, too.

MTD made those for a huge variety of brands. That's a very nice example by the looks of it. Somewhere on here there is a complete list of the brands.
