What brand was your 1TB?  I have a Seagate !TB that just quit working one day but all indications, lights, USB connection etc indicated it was fine but trying to access it nothing.  Seagate made good on their warranty and shipped me a new one.   


My old Laptop (old as in 10 or 11 years) crashed over the weekend.  The HD went out and I just so happened to have a slightly larger drive I had taken out of another laptop that had bit the dust.  But it was a real PITA to find a version of Linux to work and install on it.  Guess I'll have to send it to a museum before long.  :rolling:

It was an WD. I always try to buy WD drives, I don't like Seagate.
