I got a little ways down the road on the 8s today. I honed the cylinder, installed the new rings, and assembled the long block. I had to use the thickest mag plate gasket in the set (.015) to achieve proper end play clearance. The gasket set comes with a .005, .009, and .015 mag plate gaskets. My end play ended up at .003, which is great. The tolerances are .002-.008. Although, I always check my clearances, I don't usually talk about it here, but I figured since I'm installing parts that were'nt meant to be on this engine, I would mention it. This little engine has fantastic compression, especially since its not even broke in yet. I also cleaned the carburetor, and the gas tank. I intend to get this engine running, and work all the bugs out before I paint it. Once its running perfect, I'll break it back down, and paint it. Here are a few pics.

Project 8s Lives! It runs great. This litttle engine started on the second pull, after putting it together, and other than a little carb adjustment, I haven't had to do anything to it. Its time to disassemble, and paint it.

I would love to hear what he says.  He's probably digging through all of his engine books trying to make sure there wasn't such a thing as an 8S!
