Welcome to GTT!

I believe the coils are still available for these engines but have not had to buy one myself yet.

Do you happen to have a manual for the engine with the Briggs # for the coil?

Before replacing the coil have you checked the points behind the flywheel?

Many times a faulty spark/ no spark can be traced to worn or dirty points.

We would love to see some pictures of your tractor!

The part number you gave comes up as the armature for me. The coil # I found is 296834, which there is some on Ebay.

I think you need a coil number 296834 and not 297320 as this is used on the type number 0243,0244,502136 and 502137
