There used to be a 283 at the local dragstrip that would come out of the hole at 10 grand, and he would shift at 12!!!

 

It was the most awful sound you ever heard. He would jerk the front wheels 3 feet in the air. I had to grit my teeth everytime I watched him.

Is that what is meant when they say the valves were "floating"?

No way those valves were working right. That is unreal.

Not very many motors will handle 14k.

I'm still trying to figure out how the cam can operate without support at one end. That's pretty scary and notice how the oil vaporizes as the rpms increase.
