Mf 12 Variable Speed Transaxles

Hi  I would like to know where I could fine a rebuilt transaxle for my mf 12 variable speed.  Hard getting into gear sometimes and sometimes pops out of third.Just a detent ball problem?,and if so is it much of a job to fix. Thanks in advance  GISMO

Gizmo, the hard to get into gear... Is that a grinding issue?

As for the pop-out, yes it is normally a detent ball issue. They are still available thru John Deere parts (they used the same tranny in the 110 & 112 tractors.

Member "NutNdun" posted a very nice write-up of his transmission tear down and rebuild.  I had suggested that he make it a sticky or an article, but I don't know if he did.  I'll try to see if I can find it.

That is usually a combination of the brake needing adjusted and possibly the varidrive too.

 

Start with the Brake.  make sure the clutch is all the way down and the brake is engaged before shifting.  Never shift on the fly.
