I just got a 1969 sears 12 hydro trac. The motor shroud shows Oh160 how can i tell if its a 16hp or 12hp. How can you tell size. Thanks

if you dont have any engine numbers one of the sure ways to tell is by the head gaskets , the 14 is different than the 15& 16 hp models

Look down on the oil pan, front left corner under flywheel wheel tins right above frame mounting bolt . There will be a number stamped into oil pan casting, that will be the Hp rating of the block.
This is what your tractor should have looked like from factory, flat head
This is a OH160, has rocker box and valves up above the head
