Winch Mounting- Ideas?

  For skidding logs I think a log skidding arch would actually make life simpler.

Good advice! It's much easier pulling logs when you get the front end of the log in the air so that it doesn't dig into the ground.

One more thing on the safety side that has been eluded to, but not specifically stated.  When a cable snaps, it becomes a decapitator.  When a chain snaps, it just drops.  Often someone using a cable will drape a chain or rope across the cable multiple times to dissipate energy if the cable snaps.

Will, if I had a guide in the front to keep the cable straight, would it not be the same as if the winch was in the front?

 

 

 

Yes Ryan that will work. Myself, I wouldn't be a fan of feeding the cable through under the tractor.

But then, I'm not as young as you. You can probably still bend down. :D

Who bends anymore? I just lay down under it, then use a winch to get back up!
