I'm not sure on the oil filter but I'd see if Napa has a replacement. I don't normally use JD oil but tend to use whatever I can get on sale. I have a case of Castrol GTX I got on sale and have been using that where 10w30 is required. For 30w in the older tractors I have some Amsoil synthetic that is rated to replace 30w. I'm going to try that this year.

As far as oil filters go if you are not going to use OEM then I would opt for a Wix or Napa filter. As far as oil I would use whatever oil is recommended. Oil is the life blood of that machine so don't skimp. Use a good name brand oil meeting the specs of the owners manual.

I use a synthetic  Mobil 1, you choise of weights. 5w-30 sounds like a good to me, but i'm not sure the weight I am using right now-I would have to look at the bottle.

As far as filters I will be changing to Wix if I can find one at a good price, I am not useing a JD, but there are other brand also.

JRJ Napa and Wix are made by the same company.

If they both are made by the same company then that goes to show 'I have good taste'.
