Many years ago I started off pulling with a sears cutom 10xl. Had alot of fun with it and it even wooped on some of the cub guys :smilewink: .Eventually the cubs came back for revenge so we sold it, got a cub, and went on to win the adult class a few years. But its come to my attention that Ive missed the little thing since ive sold it and have been wanting it back. Never thought about it til I joined the website then thats when the whole collecting tractors took off (thanks guys!) So I called the owner who we had bought it off of too see if he knew there whereabouts of it. He said yes,but unfortunatly it was headed down to north carolina with his son :( so after I hungup I was determined to find another one that I just had to have! So after posting a wanted ad on craigslist. A day after I posted a young gentlemen contacted me with an offer for his ss 15. told him i wasnt looking for one. Two days went by and I had gotten another reply this one looked more promising. Sent me these pictures. But heres my concern. Is it a custom? I thought only the customs had the round fenders and the surburbans had the square fenders? Anyways ill be picking it up soon cant wait it get it!

Probably doesn't answer your Question but my 10 xl has round fenders, but other than that it looks just like the one in the picture.  Good luck with yours  hope it meets your needs.    Rick

Looks like 67 was the first year the Customs had round fenders http://vintagesearsg...om/Customs.html

Take a look at this site maybe you will find one like the one you had

Nice looking GT, but since you asked...I think this one may have a few mix-n-match parts. The customs started out in the very early years with the square fenders, but we're talking '66. The custom10xl was a later model, thus it should've had the round fenders.

IDK if there was a roper model similar and the hood has been swapped over or if a set of roper fenders have been changed onto a Sears. The major questions will only be answered with the model number tags from the shifter plate and the engine numbers on the tins.

Whatever you have, it's a very complete looking unit and it sounds like it has finally found a good home. Please keep us up to speed.

Deere that was the same exact one I had. Im thinking that the fenders were swapped because everything else is original. I will keep you guys posted and ill do in dept video once i bring it home. plus it comes with to spare mower decks all for 200$ so thats not that bad of a deal.

Nice lookin sub you got there  im assuming that the fenders were swapped which is no big deal. I was just wondering what the model is that im getting if its a custom or not.

I have a custom 6 and it has the square fenders . I bet they just changed the engine and hood to say it was a 10? Does it have hi and lo? The smaller ones had 4 speeds instead of the hi-lo 3's .
