Gear drive on the starter would date it after '73. Thats about I know about that one. I had a couple Firestone boat engines.  He could use some lessons on how to put on chains.

I'm wondering if it's been repowered. The engine looks too big for the space and the hood looks like it may have been cut out.

It's an MTD 760 (10hp) or 660 (8hp)

I just looked thru some manuals and it looks like '73 was the first year for that body and grill and it was used at least up to '78.

The parts book does show the hood being cut out but it doesn't look like it was quite that much??

Do not know what all the levers are for but i think it has more than deck adjustment and blade engagement
