quick Q here, how "universal" are the governor gears among the various K series engines? (I know the single cyl cast iron Magnums take the same one as the equiv HP K series)

IDK why but the plastic ones just scare me a bit and I have a M12 apart on the bench (think K 301) ready for reassembly that I'd like to find a metal gear for

Will one from a K 181 fit a K 301?

Yup all the K flat heads use the same gear. I prefer the cast old style over the new nylon myself. Good luck

They do come up on Ebay. Also you can check with Brian Miller's web site. He does sell them if he has them in stock.
