I have a question for anyone familiar with the Ertl pedal tractors. This one has a mark below the steering wheel in the shape of a (script) "E", looks like a fine weld bead & wraps slightly around the right side. Has anyone seen this before?

The tractor doesn't appear to have been re-painted! ~~ Lowell

Lowell,

That isn't part of the casting, and was added. Not sure if there might have been a hole at one point, and then repaired. You should know better once you split the halves and see what it looks like from the inside.

The mark turned out to be something in the glue line, scraped right off with a sharp chisel! ~~ Lowell

Great Lowell. Glad to see that no damage was done, and the value of the tractor wasn't effected.

Painted the body halves today:

HPIM2597 (Custom).JPG

Will sand & paint the wheels tomorrow.  Decals & hub caps are here, axle caps should be here tomorrow.  When I get the tractor done, I'll restore the cart, then get some plywood to mount them on the JD #10 dump cart for shows & parades!  ~~  Lowell

Does the motor have compression, or are you going to rebuild it? LOL  It's looking good Lowell. You should go to the hardware store and buy a piece of chrome, straight 1 1/2" sink drain pipe, and mount it to the hood. That would dress the tractor up really nice without ruining the casting. Can't wait to see if finished.

I'm thinking a bored assembly line worker decided to put his own personal ertl emblem on the tractor, I have pulled several auto door panels to find hello and other greetings written on the inside of the panels

As always great work on the tractor!

It will ride the #15 cart in parades & shows.  May try making some attachments for it, eventually!  ~~  Lowell

Put the "Industrial" back together today!

HPIM2662 (Custom).JPG

Will attach it to the plywood & that to the #15 cart for parade & show duty.

Next, a PINK pedal car to be made into a JD style, similar to this:

John Deere Pedal Car 2.JPG

I have the car, just need to sand it down, repaint it & attach it to my #50 cart:

I need to repaint the cart too!  ~~  Lowell
