This is NUTNDUN Massey 8 hydro.

I have a chance to get one like it with a hydro also but was wondering how rare these are. The number 8s that I see are usually regular gear shifts.

The tractor itself is not rare but an 8 horse Tecumseh that hasn't self destructed by now is extremely rare.  :wallbanging:

Hi Tim

They're not super rare up here. Not as hard to find as a 7H.

I have one on the waiting list, for a resto.

And I had one 4 years ago, that I got rid of, as it was butchered

up too badly.

Any pics of the one you're looking at?

We,ve got two of the 8h units and one 7g that could all be resurrected... And only one good deck in the whole pile. If the deck is good, it's probably rarer than the tractor at this point.

Tin looks good. That bezel can be fixed up.

Any idea on the engine?

I know where there is one. It has a replacement engine though.

I've got a 8G and the engine is toast on it. The deck was a write off but I found another deck shell locally. We actually see a fair number of them up here. Most of them do seem to be gear drive up here.

There's a 7G in my basement with a sold sign and a very good deck on it.  Did you include that one in your tally Alan?  :rolling:

I have an 8 gear shift and it has the original deck and engine. When I took the head off of the engine, the cylinder walls had no scoring and had the cross hatching still. Has a good deck too. My uncle bought it new from a local massey ferguson dealer in town and then sold it to my grandparents shortly after because it was too small for him. It sat in the shed for 25+ years before I rescued it. has original tires too! This picture of my 2 boys on it is from last summer when I brought it home, before I cleaned it up.DSCF4384.JPG

20120506_7.JPG This is a better pic of it, last summer. 10 year olds Simplicity Broadmoor is behind it. New belts, totally rewired, new points and condenser, other odds and ends replaced. I have a headlight kit for it but have not installed it yet

Tim that looks good, I have an 8H which I purchased last fall with snowblower and blade. I had engine go out on me blowing snow, not easy finding the correct parts for an 8hp tecumseh I am finding out. The deck on mine seems to be in good shape, but still planning on full tear down and rebuild this spring.
