Man that red looked ORANGE in that first picture. Is that the TSC IH Red? Same price as the white?

...rear wheels another coat. They aren't coming out as well as I would have liked because I didn't have a sandblaster to remove the paint on them...

Let that paint on the rims cure for a few days and try hitting them with some fine steel wool. My rear's were already pretty smooth minus some minor surface rust so I steel wooled them and the paint went on great. I was about to paint my fronts and finaly gave up on tring to smooth the  layers of paint that was on them (but not the rest of the tractor?) so I'm going to electrobath them this weekend.

Keep up the progress!

Didn't it though. It must be the lighting where I took the picture, because it is definitely red. The paint is Valspar I bought off Amazon.

I really like Valspar paint. I was sorry when TSC stopped carrying it.

IH red. I don't think Lowes carries any tractor colors.

Today I got the transmission, steering column, and drivetrain installed. I need to get a drive belt before I can bolt the 90 degree gearbox in position. After that, I gave the engine and engine pieces. a couple of coats of paint. Tomorrow I plan to install the engine if the paint is dry enough. What color do you guys think I should paint the gas tank? Originally it was white. I was thinking maybe red with white straps would look kind of cool.

The engine with the second coat.

Second coat on the engine parts.

Looking good Levi.  I think your color scheme for the tank would be cool.  Your moving right along there.

Made some more progress. I put the engine back together and installed it. I also painted the PTO clutch over the past couple of days and reainstalled it today. I tested it and it seems to work fine. I am goingto start painting white parts next.

Did a little painting tonight. This is the first coat for the white parts. After I sanded down the rims(thanks for the tip Twostep) I gave them one more coat with the paint gun instead of rattle cans. They turned out great. Tomorrow I will give the hanging parts one more coat and install them and the wheels.

Looking good. I really like that IH white. Is that the Majic brand paint that you used in your spray gun? How did you like it?

No, actually that was Valspar also. I have yet to try Majic paint. Maybe my next project. You are using Majic on your 682 restore right?

Yeah, I really like the color but the rattle can fogs up the garage really bad... I mean REALLY bad. Also in this cool weather it takes a day plus for the paint to dry to the point that I can work with the parts. I'll tell you at the end of this mowing season how I really feel about it.

I've not used Valspar yet but so far I've not found a spray paint that can beat rustoleum for good coverage, not fogging.
