I don't know if Y'all remember, but I have a Bolens built Montgomery/ Wards Squire. I am back on restoring it and I am trying to figure out which seat pan is correct. Here is a couple of photos I found on the net.

the seat you list as being on yours, i find on a lot of Sears older models. I dont have any bolens riding models to compare, but some of the ones i've seen in the past had a seat with an oval shaped, instead of a round holes.

the seat that you show on your's looks similar to the one i removed from my 600 bolens that i scraped. are there 2 post that hold the seat down?

The seat pan that is on it has only two holes to mount it. they are side by side.

could you take a pic of how the seat is mountedand what the mounting and how plate is mounted might help ill see if i can dig out the 600 seat i have and get a couple pics of it. and most sears that i have seen only had one bolt in the center of the seat to hold them down.

I'm thinking that it should like the one if the first pic.

 

That looks to be almost identical to the seat on my 800.

I just went back out to look at this seat and it's not the right one for this GT. It originally had a single hole to mount it, someone drilled it to be bolted with 2 bolts.
