Got hit with freezing rain this morning, and it's slicker than oiled glass outside.  I65 is a total disaster near me.  Backed up many miles last i heard.  Walking to do my morning chores was a chore in itself.  My green insulated boots are needed for warmth, but must be the slickest/slidingest boots known to man!  I didn't go down, but man did I have to be careful as all get out!  Not more than 1/4 thick of ice, but that's a plenty to cause lots of problems.  I hope nobody was badly hurt in the wrecks everywhere today.

I've been watching this develop and just waiting to hear the news from you, Daniel.  That's the worst kind of weather there is as far as I am concerned. Looks like a large area will get that kind of stuff. Everyone affected be very careful!

Be careful out there Daniel!! We have went from below 0 temps early in the week to low to mid 30's Saturday- Tuesday and they are predicting Rain-Snow Mix. When the temps are there it can go either way, so the weekend and Monday & Tuesday are a big Question here. Biggest problem with ice is with a bit of wind the power lines go down. No power,No heat makes for a miserable time.

Stay safe Daniel.  That is the worst of all surfaces for people to get around on.  Cars, people and animals, they all go down.  I hope it passes soon.

Freezing Rain rings alarm bells with me. We get it fairly often here and I try to stay off the roads when it's happening. I remember one day many years ago when I came out of a friends house and could not make it too my car because of the ice, fell on my butt and slid 150ft down his driveway. I think the laughter is still echoing around here somewhere. All jokes aside, it is the nastiest weather we can have up here. It is really bizarre when the temp is 20f and it's raining. It makes that sizzling sound as it freezes which is something i don't want to hear. Stay safe everyone.

Yeah, it's pretty bad here too. a buddy just told me that he seen 32 vehicles either wrecked or off the side of the road between exit 99 and exit 108 on I-75 southbound... I can deal with it as long as it doesn't pull the electric lines down and destroy or trees. Don't forget the ice storm of '09!!!

I have no idea to the larger roads, but our side road is 1/2 clear now.  Nothing is melting other than where they treated the roads.
