All the member that live in Texas and states that very very seldom get snow or cold weather just don't know what they are missing.

Oh,the northern farmers are a hardylot,
a fool hardy lot some say,
For it's 40 below and there's ice and snow
When the Olde Deeres go out to play.
The ice on the lake is three feet thick
And fish are biting; perch and pike
And walleye are there, beyond compare
But it's ugly burbot that we like.
So,the shack's in the back, ice auger is primed,
The old Chevy is ready to roll,
Look out fish, it's fourty below
And we're aiming to take our toll.
The ice's drifted deep to the "sweetest" spot
And the cold is fit to freeze you dead,
The ice, she groans and creaks and moans
But we're plowing straight ahead.
We get set up and the shack is warm,
Fish are biting to beat the band,
Brought butter along to fry them up,
How can you not love this land!
And when the day is done, the wind humps up,
We pack up our shack and gear,
Ice crystals dance in the moon's soft glance,
And we're glad for winter, six months of the year!

I hate it when the weather gets this cold. Took me half an hour to get the John Deere 50 going so I could clean the barn and spread the manure. And it a gas tractor not a diesel!!! Supposed to go down to -11 again tonight. Oh well, next week looks a little warmer.

OK here is a graphic example of how cold it has been in Michigan. There is a little town downstate partway between Lansing and Detroit that has a namesake we are all familiar with. Well it finally got that cold....................
