I have read where the grille on some of these 300 series tractors are a pain etc .

I agree completely , so I was getting ready start sanding on mine tonight and I had a thought.

Take a 1/4" rod and lay full length behind each bar and tack into place .at each end and cut the 2 outside ones off and move in 1/4" and tack into place.

This I believe would stop the bending every time you have to remove grille and stop the rubbing on the side panels . The grille woulld still look good .

I'm still thinking on the mounting system though , for a better way

Any thoughts?

Good idea Larry. If it was mounted to the front plate at the bottom using a rod or 2 pins then it could hinge down to access the pto. When I reassemble my 317 I'll have a shot at changing it to something better. It'll be a while before I get to that point.

That's is a thought. I'm going to take another look today at the mounting. If I do the rod thing , I need to look at doing the mount at the same time .
