I am interested in doing something with a single cylinder or twin cylinder diesel. Going to subscribe to the thread.

They don't mind standard shift or hydraulic drive so putting one in a case should be a cake walk. These rigs have gobs of torque and they can rev. Only issue is thier odd shape and height.

I know where your mind is going George, and the great thing about the JB hydro is it's direction of rotation allows driving the hydro off the crankshaft instead of the flywheel side.  Great especially with water cooled diesels.  Allows radiator up front like a big tractor.

I have put the 4.5hp clones that used to be availabe from Carroll stream in a JD 112rf and a Wheel Horse 653.  Both worked great and had plenty of power. Figure the 4.5hp clone equil to 7-8hp gas, the 6hp equil to 10hp gas and the 10hp diesels equil to 12-14hp gas.  And by gas I mean the older K series Kohlers and Briggs cast iron series singles.  New gas singles have no torque once you pull them a few rpm off thier 3600rpm top rpm.  Mike
