The six o'clock news just reported that the FBI issued a warning / advisory to remove Java for the time being and reinstall and always update it when asked at a later time.  Apparently some foreign ( out of the USA ) folks have found a way to get into Java and perhaps get your personal information.  It urged folks to uninstall Java.

I thought I would pass it along as I uninstall.

I also found this on the net: http://www.theglobea...article7234545/

I had gotten the impression Java had been hacked some time back.  And if Java itself had not been hacked, it was an entry point for problems.

Don't laugh, it might run Java, it runs a lot of stuff we don't think about

  • 1.1 billion desktops run Java
  • 930 million Java Runtime Environment downloads each year
  • 3 billion mobile phones run Java
  • 31 times more Java phones ship every year than Apple and Android combined
  • 100% of all Blu-ray players run Java
  • 1.4 billion Java Cards are manufactured each year
  • Java powers set-top boxes, printers, Web cams, games, car navigation systems, lottery terminals, medical devices, parking payment stations, and more.

It was recommended to uninstall it from your computer.  Control panel, then programs, then usually you will see uninstall programs.  My computer did not even blink when the two Java programs were removed.

No idea how to get it out of the other things.

I just checked the add ons in FF and FF had disabled Java. I have uninstalled it from both my computers.

On a goverment site I found a warning now, dates 1-11-23. My anti-virus-program informed me, that they protect my PC.
