What Is The Purpose Of The Chain (MF 550 Tiller)

As soon as I can figure out what is the purpose of the chain on the tiller...I'll do a little garden tilling.

Not owning or being familiar with this model tiller, I think it is to set the max depth of till. That or to lock tiller in transport position or both. I'd bet that chain is to be bolted to the case bolt with the 2nd nut on it as seen in pic.

I think olcowhand is right,it's to lock it in " transport position ".

yup its just to lock it in at a certain hieght for tilling or transport
