The 48" deck on the 520-8 I've been working on is a spare I had in the barn.

The Horses deck when I purchased it "was the pits." I'm reworking that deck little by little.

Hardware, wheel axles, blades, and patching some rotted areas. Here's a peek-a-boo at work in progress. Patch is bolted, new SS bolts w/ locking nuts. Then I'll MIG the patch to the original deck. A through cleanup and (I just happen to have a gallon of IH red that'll do for now) a paint job. Of course a new drive belt.

I have the belt guards that'll be sanded / sand blasted and painted too.

I stole the 48" SD deck from my '85 416-8 and put it on the 520-8. The deck I picked up with the 520 was, well, severely beat, rusted, bent, you name it. Ouch.

I started to work on the beat deck and finished it in a week or two.

Blasted, MIG welded on a few patches, changed hardware to (mostly) stainless, lock nuts, Never-Seez® on the threads. Underside I used rubberized under coating. Topside, Rustoleum Regal Red. I reused the rollers and wheels, were OK.

New belts from Tractor Supply, a 10 minute ride up the road.

Eager to test, mounted the deck and tried it out this Easter Sunday. Ran like a top!

Need decals on two decks now, going to order 'em tomorrow from www.redoyourhorse.com (good stuff!)

Spring like weather, I can hear (and see) the grasses growin'!

These two Stallions (416-8 & 520-8) are ready to graze. 100% up to the chore.

Moved the baby moons to the '90 520-8 for show 'n tell. Some of my bar buds think I'm a

Wheel Horse nut. I am, have been, always will be. Got a problem with that? :shoot2:

Added four new tires and made sure all the belts were new. At my age, forget sometimes.

Have had the pleasure mowing with this beast! Runnin' like a Stallion should!

Grandsons love the 520-8 and the younger ones want more wagon rides! My Son takin' Milo for a ride pic below. My Sons grew up, 40 years ago, with much older Horses.

Been awhile but, spendin' a lot of time with Grandsons and the Onan. We all like the sound but, had a carb problem. After a through carb cleaning, all's well!

Cleaning up some forsythia bushes, didn't need to but Grandson "needed" seat time!

Video. Nice soundin' Onan (my first). Was always Kohler but, years ago others; B&S, Techy's, whatever they were? Long gone now. Must admit my Kohlers never let me down, 12's, 14's and one 16.

That Ona sure sounds sweet, and I can tell someone is really having a good time.
