well the recall muffler looks better then the ones they replaced them with since they tend to make the decals shrink and ripple

I could be wrong, but I think you may have that backwards.

As I understand it, the re-call muffler was that huge one that pretty much covered the decal on the hood.

In any event, I'm betting that even mine will ripple the decals.

I had a straight pipe on my HDT1000.  Sounded nice, but way too loud.

Shucks, even with the muffler I have this one 'barks' pretty good.

Bob, I'm trying to remember...does yours have the 'recall' muffler on it?

I guess I should post a pic of mine here as well.  It ain't as pretty as the other two, but should look better when I get the hood decals on in.

I'm pretty sure that mine has the original pre-recall muffler.

It had it on when i got it but i put the orginal back on it.

What does that mean, did they have a recall because it messed up the decals?

As I understand it, Bolens had some problems with that engine.  They issued a recall for the 20D, and it was to install the muffler that you have.  The original muffler is the one you can see in the pic of mine.

It turned out that the muffler change didn't cure the problem.

I'm pretty sure that Bob (bhts), can tell the whole story, and the eventual cure.
