The same guy that I got my Dynamark from has a cool 1986 Wizard by MTD that actually runs and mows that he will sell or trade. I am not a MTD fan but this mower looks cool and it runs. He wants to trade for a log splitter running or not. I know a guy down the road with a 2006 Craftsman 22 ton log splitter non running for sale for $100 so I'm gonna go by there and see if I can talk him down to $75 and trade the log splitter for the Wizard. I would keep the log splittler but I dont really need it because I already have a log splitter. Hopefully I can work out this trade within the next few weeks. I really like the way this thing looks. I will upload a photo in a few minutes

That was a popular style. I have several with the 7 speed varidrive. They were sold under many names. I have: Agway, MTD, Western Auto, Wizard, and Grass Handler. The engines range from 10hp to 18hp in B&S and Tech. I think that $100 is too high. They are a cheaply built tractor. After sitting awhile the varidrive gets stuck and requires acouple of hours to disassemble clean, lube, and reassemble. The belts will probably need replacing too. They have three safety switches that will drive you crazy. I fixed up the nicest one with a bagger 5 years ago. Got everything working and looking good. Tried mowing my lawn with it. The Tech OHV engine died within half an hour. It was the valve. I found 2 other OHV engines the same way. I was disgusted and just put it to the side.

It has happened to me several times where an aluminum engine that has sat for several years will blow shortly after being started. I had done oil changes.

I'd get the logsplitter, fix it, and sell it for  several hundred.

If I get this tractor I plan on fully servecing it and pretty much restoring the deck. This will serve as a backup mower and trailer puller.

I wish you good luck with it. The vari drive is tricky I had to frequently check one of the other tractors for reassembly.

I went by and talked to the seller of the log splitter today. I asked him how much he wanted for it and he told me he would take $25 bucks for it so Im gonna go pick it up tomarrow if it doesent rain. It has a Honda engine. The seller of the Wizard also has a 2 bin MTD bagger that hes gonna throw in. It wont fit the Wizard unless I get a special hitch.

If you get it and need the hitch, let me know. I may have some on my parts tractors.

Ok I got my log splitter today for $25 and it runs so Im going to keep it. Its a Craftsman 24 ton with 8 horse Tecumpseh engine that runs very good. It is both a verticle and horizontal splitter. Since Im keeping the splitter Im going to trade a refurbished Onan 25 horse engine with built in key start for the Wizard. I got the Onan for $24

Congratulations. Great deal on the splitter! That Onan is worth alot more than $100 and is alot harder to find when you get a big garden tractor that it will fit. Good Luck
