I want to thank the Alsdorfs for hosting the event and the French Creek Club for sponsoring the plow day. I'm sure that a lot of time and effort went into making it a success. I also want to thank Alan (MH81) and his wonderful parents for providing more ground to plow with our garden tractors. Alan's Mom and Dad even brought us sandwiches and water while we were plowing. They also invited us into their home for more food and coffee before we hit the road. Thanks to everyone that help make this day special.

OK, first I want to say how perfect a day it was. Sun, light breeze, GREAT friends, and Tractors.

As for pictures, I don't have any... Just kidding...

I took some, my Dad did too. I know George and Grand took some and there were several club members with cameras, so we will be adding to an album here... However; here is what I took.
It started out a little frosty. Here is my windshield.

But a half hour later, it was getting better quick.

This year, the Aldorf's are rotating their fields. For those of you who were there last year, much of the land we did then is planted in wheat.
Here the first batch is, headed up to the field at 8am.
image.jpg

This year, we were turning fields that haven't been turned in about 8 years, so the sod was thick. Thick sod + wet tall grass = spinning tires, but we were doing it for quite a while.
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

After a while, I managed to break away and go talk to Mr Aldorf's. I let him know we were having some troubles with the heavy sod and if we could switch with some of the land for the big boys? A few minutes later, we were moving over to the other field.
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I was able to go over a few days before and get the scoop on how much land was available for tilling, I could see that it might be turned relatively quickly, so I had made some arrangements with my parents to let the GTT crowd come over and turn some more if they wanted to. Our ground is a little rockier than the other place, but it's at least dirt.

Being the host, I forgot all about taking pics. :wallbanging: but I hope George has a few from over there.

Thanks to everyone who came to our plow day. It will be a tough day to top.

Plow days are a blast! That first ground looks like what we were trying to turn here. Tough old sod. Glad you all had a great time!

It was a great day perfect weather, friendly people all there to have fun. I got to meet some more members from GTtalk and see others again.

The Electric Massey, ET2 can do it, with the 8" plow on the amp draw is less especially in 2nd gear, at first the plow needed a couple of adjustments but after that it seemed to be working. I was on the 1st lap, just before the end a I heard/felt a snap and broke the trany.

Input shaft turns but no drive, neither 1/2 shaft has drive in any gear. So that parked the tractor for the day.

I don't know how long it will run plowing but I was able to find out that it has the power to pull the 8" plow.

The pictures Alan took were on the 1st lap and I'm glad he took them when he did.

I got to drive other tractors later in the day and drove a  2 Sears GT's, never drove a Sears before.

All in all I had a great day and was glad I went. Break downs are part of it and it was just my turn.
