It's heavy! I can just pick it up right now! Wouldn't want to carry too far, though!

Lookin good.

So, the winch will bolt right onto the floor of the box? Or are you going to

"U" bolt around the trailer frame?

The winch bolts thru the floor, which is a 3/8" thick plate. I have to set the box up 3" above the tongue so the cable clears the front angle iron on the trailer. I have some 3" c-channel for that.

There will be more pics of the installation when I get the lid on it. I should have plenty of room for the winch and it's wiring, a battery, and strap storage. I will figure out something to hold the battery in place once all the winch is installed.

Take a look at the battery tray on the front of the chipper.

Marine battery tray. Costs about $10.

If you can't find one, I'll mail you one, but that'll take about

2 weeks to get to you.

I'm pretty sure they're made by Attwood.

One of those would work great. I haven't looked for one as yet!

You can get them in both group 24, and 27 size.

I'm sure, if you just google it, you can buy it online.

Hey Kenny, Do you have room for one of these?

I’ve always liked them. Keeps the acid in a confined space and better yet protects the terminals from accidental short.

Thanks guys! Once the winch is in there, I'll know how much space is available for the battery and it's holder.

I did get the lid built up yesterday. I haven't put it on as yet. I need a latch which should be here today (NAPA). Once I have that set up and get the mount for the trailer tongue, it will get paint. Here's the lid:

Nice Kenny, I've been watching and I plan on putting a 12 Volt Dayton winch on my 21' tilt trailer someday(bought it new about 10 years ago) after Seeing what your doing has given me some good ideas.

So, when are we getting a trailer Forum ? They seem to be popular with the GT crowd.

Haven't a clue on the trailer forum. I hope to go out and see if I can get the latch mechanism made up.

Got a bit done today. Got the latch ready to install and the lid attached.

I also got the tongue attachment figured out. Had to move the jack 4" forward. Hopefully I'll have some pics of that tomorrow.

Work got in the way, so I got zilch accomplished. Have rain in the forecast for tomorrow through the weekend, so probably nothing there!

The challenge is mocking up everything. Hard to do when it's wet outside!
