Hello All,

So this project was put on hold for a bit, went through some life events in the last year, but about 4 weeks ago I found deep cycle batteries on Kijiji, guy was pimping out his golf cart, needed bigger batteries. ( Apparently that's a big thing, I dounno,, )

Picked them up for 30 bucks a piece, kinda what I needed to start the project up again.

So being a new welder, I thought I'd try to fab up the mounting plate. Keep in mind, I've never built anything like this. I think I built a paper weight thing in gr9 shop class. So that's 20yrs ago.

I know there's some master fabricators on here, so please be kind with the reviews. LOL,

Hopefully I'll get it in the frame on the weekend, take some more pics.

The fabrication looks fine! This is a cool project, not sure there is any major fuel savings when you total cost of batteries plus charge costs over the lifetime vs diesel/gas, but they are handy and quiet and full torque is available at zero RPM so they are a workhorse.

Nice snag on those batteries for that price.  That's the kind of deal I'm looking for to use in my E-12.

Thanks, I'm not too sure about charge costs, I think I heard you charge a Chevy volt for a couple of bucks.

I've been trying to keep the cost down . The batts cost were holding me up.

Looks like your back on it again, sometimes you have to use what you can afford or find, batteries should work good.

Try searching this site.  I don't have the link, but a number of members have has success with Epsom salts solution??? added to the battery.  Can't remember, but it seems like this might be the perfect time to try it.

PLEASE FIND THE LINK!  DON"T GO BY MY FAULTY MEMORY!!

Unfortunately , bad recycling practices that had to be corrected and the price of energy drove up batt prices . TSC or Wally has group 29 for around 100 . Even takeouts are scarce from the usual sources .
