I also get those and is SPAM.  They DO look real authentic, but when they give you an address to respond to that is not epay, I just delete. Theyalso use my REAL first name in the message along with my user name when it is real ebay!  Go to your homepage to look for info in mail box there. Called them????  Pretty   hard to find that number I bet! I've never seen a place to find one to call!

The link in the message directed me to a page with the phone number.

Wow.  I know you've confirmed this with Ebay but I'm still finding it very hard to believe it wasn't a scam email.  I've received 2 or 3 of these emails with almost the exact same wording you gave in the original post.  I sent them to the spoof Ebay thing and all were confirmed to be scams.  Ebay even stated that they never send that kind of email....

Ryan, Call them using the contact us # on EBAY, not the one from that link...

Log in, then go here. http://ocs.ebay.com/...ContactCS&ref=1

Account > Restriction >

Then you should be able to get a pin code to call them if you click on the little orange phone symbol to the right

If I were you, I would immediately change all my passwords for ebay & paypal.

The link that you clicked on is the scam, all info pertaining to that link is a scam. If you called the number on the linked page, you did not talk to ebay. Google the number you used and see what comes up.

Change all passwords and watch your paypal account. If its linked to a bank account or credit card or has any money in it they will rob you blind. Also check to see if they have sent out any emails from your ebay account.

Ryan, something my wife and I did before she had pasted away was open a bank account that we used for just our online use. We only keep a couple of hundred dollars in it. We add more if needed for a purchase, but if someone gets into the account they can't get much. For things that need a credit card have one that offers the best protection against stolen useage.

That is absolutely a scam do not respond to it in any way.  They are trying to get your personal info.  You can forward it to spoof@ebay .com and they will check it.  I have gotten many of those over the years. They are all scams.  Ebay and Paypal will never ask you for any information like that. They will call you if there is a real problem.  If you ever need to email them always type in the address yourself or link to it from ebay never click on a link from an email.

Jack you are right on the money!  Never open a link in an email unless you know for sure that it is legit.
