Nice Save!  Like others I didn't know Porter-cable made a tractor I thought they just did hand tools.  I'll be interested in seeing this restored.

pwombles, No i didnt know mont. wards made one similar i will have to look into this!  I seen that CL link and i like that little blue thing i want it too! I dont think i can squeeze another one in my shop i have too many as it is

If you go to the MTF forums,go into garden tractors sub forums and go to the other brands,i have an old post there with some good info that a forum member just brought back to the top few posts 3 or 4 days ago.

Something kinda cool - the clutch on these is the usual loose belt and idler pulley.

 

The move the idler pulley you can see part of the linkage.  The left-side foot-rest pivots.  Later, it's changed to a lever above the foot rest.

neat old tractor.  here is the first porter cable mower I have ever seen.  Its not a tractor more of a lawn mower rider but made by Porter cable.  Called a Porter cable Mark. Good luck with the resto and keep us informed.  I would like to see yours finished.
