There seems to have been differnt grades of these tractors, some used the kohlers, some used the briggs and the lesser models used a clinton. Dont think ive ever saw a newer Bolens with a Wisconsin, that ussally found on the older tractors. The Kohler tractors are easy to spot as the air cleaner always comes up though the hood. My Versa has a 3hp briggs, but has the rope start.

I saw an ad one that said Bolens offered 17 tractors and 111 attachments, or something like that, for the walk-behinds. Looks like you had a pretty wide choice of things to buy.

Not sure what year this is, but looks complete to me, not being a big Bolens guy.

Going to try and make a deal on it, it is setting behind a 100 year old Hardware Store I buy supplies from from time to time. I didn't know they had stuff stuck between 2 buildings.

Think my wife will like it for Christmas?

hahah he put it under the tree

Very nice find!!!
A 153-03 Would make it between 1959-1961 which used a 3HP Briggs and Stratton engine.

Looks like you have the remnants of the saw blade/ Weed cutter attachment mounted onto the tractor and the mower deck shell at the bottom looks to be a homemade/ modified unit.

You even have the belt guard which is almost always missing on these.

I'm wondering what exactly you were shopping for behind the back of an old hardware store. By the looks of it, in the dark alley alongside the building, next to the old 'Chuck's Get-Gas-N-Go' building? Hmmmmm? Black market two-stroke oil? Leaded, non-ethanol gas? Vented gas cans? DDT?

Come on, fess up.....

That's the only place the "jewelry broker".... cough (fence).... would meet him!

Good thing you posted pics of the FIL's ManCave, otherwise we would have to have a talk about your priorities, young man.

I went by the place this morning and the owner wasn't in, will be in after lunch. I am going to go back by there and try to get this one bought. I did take a couple more pictures to try to help ID the year. If anyone has any idea what else to look at, let me know please.

When I blow up the mower tag, it looks to say "Type  F 800 01" Does that sound right? It does appear that someone added a mower deck shell to this cutter.

Hope you can get it!

The F800 01 was the saw blade/ Weed cutter attachment. The mower part in the pic  is definitely  homemade

Well if it were me buying it I'd feel comfortable Paying $200 for it.

I have seen the belt guards fetch over $60 themselves on ebay from time to time....
