Some of you may remember last years Christmas break my granddaughter talked me into helping her build some bedroom furniture. Well this year she has decided to add a few more things. So today we started, we are building a jewelry box that will have a full length mirror attached to the front of it.

So today we spent the day cutting and nailing and sanding all day together, a day I would not have spent any where else. We work as a team and she pulls her weight, she doesn't like using the power saw's, :D but other then that she just jumps right in there.

It was great to spend the day with her creating some lasting memories.

Sorry no Pic's but once we get it done I'll post some.

You set a fine example for the rest of us. Your granddaughter will remember this day and will tell her grandchildren about it. You are making family heirlooms there! keep up the good work!

It sounds like a great family time day. Take pictures not for us, but for yourself. Those days get too far in between as they get older.

Thanks for the response. Today she is going to paint it and then start to get her room ready for paint. I think this child would make a great designer, but right now she has her mind set on Nursing although now that she has been taking chemistry she has been thinking some in that direction.

After the events of last week, I think it is even more important to spend time together. When she turned 13 I really wondered if we had lost her. she didn't want to talk much and stayed in her room and it got worse when she turned 14 but when she turned 15 about half way through the year we started to see a change and she started talking to us more and sharing what was going on. When she turned 16 it was a completely different person. She is now more open and willing to take on responsibly to some degree. So hang in there if you have a teenager there is light at the end of the tunnel!
