I picked this up a few weeks ago, got it for free (and gas cost)... It runs like its brand new, good tires and belts, Plus, the guys dad was a machineist so all the knobs, and handles are machined billet aluminum. the shifter hanlde is a hurst shift knob off a 67 comaro! i got the 44" deck, but need to get a belt for it. Planning to find snowplow or 2 stage snowblower for it too. Might make a cab for it. Its got a 18HP opposed twin briggs, and the 3 speed hi/lo tranny.

I cant seem to find the metal piece that holds air cleaner cover on, the one that bolts to carb and has bolt on it. If you have an extra, LET ME KNOW! PLEASE HELP!

Welcome to GTTalk. That's a really nice looking GT18. It was obviously looked after and you've got yourself a mighty fine rig there.

I got this GT, hopefull picking up a free ff24 with loader on friday! its nice to have contacts... hes in his 80's and retired so he wants to get rid of everything! I should be getting ff24 with loader, an ff20, another GT18, and some cub cadets. Might make ff20 a plow tractor with full cab. heating and even a radio! i also got a 1979 rally roper at moment... it needs a new engine

Man o man, sounds like you hit the jackpot.

One tractor free is a great deal, a bunch of tractors (and some very collectible) is a FaNtAsTiC deal.

Please post pics of your expanding herd as you can. They sound like I will need a drool catcher to look.

Oh, and :welcometogttalk:

Nice looking GT! You can put money into it now and still have a very inexpensive nice tractor.

I allways keep my stuff inside, except shitty MTDs... I was reading the manual, and it says the transaxle takse regular SAE 30 engine oil... Is that right? wouldnt it take gear oil?
