Hi, sorry for another question, but I haven't had any luck searching older posts.

What kind of fluid are you putting in your 1250 hydro?

Manual says ATF type A - wondering if you can let me know your favourite brand, or particular brand that works best?

Are you using any additives?

Thanks.

We welcome your questions. I'm also impressed on your quick progress on your machine. This is a topic that has been discussed a few times here and on other forums with no real resolution. I thought the manual said Type "F" which is the old Ford trany fluid from the 60s and 70s. I came to the conclusion to use what the manual says for topping off until I change the fluid and filter. Then I will go to the "all tractor" fluid that many places sell, as long as it meets the specs. Someone here gave a good explanation a month or two ago.

Looks like people are using the GM Dextron ATF or a multi-purpose tractor hydraulic type fluid. I'll stick with Dextron unless I hear otherwise because that's what's in it now. Just thought that if I am going to change the fluid, drain the lines, I better do a little research first. I have some time to let this post simmer because I still need a carb.

Regarding our pace, we like to keep moving forward quickly. I am working with an eleven year old and they don't make this too patient these days.

Here are some pics of last winter's project: 1963 Cub Original Resto-mod.

The Bolens folks will be along. They aren't early risers like some of us!
