You should be ok, most hydraulic oil is straight 30w, and that includes ATF, the differences are in the additives. Automatics in vehicles use a friction clutch and the additives in ATF are for those needs, but in the sundstrands and eatons it is a piston type. I have seen in cubs and deere's that using what they call for makes a difference for the better , but in my eatons, it doesn't seem to matter ,I haven't had any issues with either ATF or hydraulic fluid

I have been using hydraulic oil in one of the 990s and straight 30w engine oil in my original 990 transmission. Although I have changed the oil and filter only twice that I can remember. It stays clean and clear. The main concern is overheating. The cooling fan can break from a stick or from age. I have replaced it one time.
