I got the 317 back together finally. I had to replace/repair a few things on it. The fender deck is off of a 312. I also took the hitch off of an old 110 I have and put it on the 317. I got very lucky and found a lift arm. Got it all hooked up and pulled my sleeve-hitch plow thru the garden. It did a good job plowing.
I needed some weight for the back tires for plowing. Since It is December, I put the red wheel weights on it. Don't they look great!

... and I thought this was going to be a JD vs. Cub Cadet vs. Massey debate ! :poke: LOL

Looks good to me. A string of lights would go well, too.

Looks good. I think black or yellow would look better for the weights after the new year. My 317 is disassembled for a restore.

I think the set up looks good! John Deere used to use red back in the earlier days. They painted some of the wooden pieces found on the earlier implements red, and I always thought it looked good together. I actually use red on some of my details when I restore my tractors.

I need to add some weight to the front end, because the plow likes to pick up the front of the tractor and turn to the right when the plow digs good.. I have seen the weight brackets redi-made for sale on ebay, but I think I can weld up something that would work. I have a quick-attach weight box for my Case gt, something like it would work fine.

I am finally getting around to getting big red ready for winter. I have ordered the tire chains online for the Massey, they should be here next week. When they get here I will put them and the weights on.
The Ingersol snow plow mounts up to it, but it took several tries because for some reason was kinda close tollerance to the quick hitch on the front of the tractor. I had to get it just right to attach.
I found a lift arm for the snow plow online (thanks Joe!) It is a different lift arm than the one for the sleeve hitch on the back and it hooks up fine to the lift plate. It is the longer straight one in the photo. When I bought my first Case tractor it came with this snowplow but the p.o. was using the wrong lift arm for it. It would barely lift the plow 1 or 2 inches off the ground.
What do you think, should I paint the wheel weights gray or leave them orange too?
