Well today was the big day.

After being out of my life since fathers day in 2007 my oldest son came to visit.

He sent me a text a few days ago and asked if he could come to visit. I told him he was welcome to. SO today at 1230 I went down to Dairy Queen in Shelby and picked him up. He and his sisters are in NC for the summer. My two girls are in NC too but were nervous about visiting. Hopefully by the end of the summer they will come see me but I am not going to force it.

This afternoon we went up to Lowe's to look around then went to Sonic to get a hotdog and have a serious conversation about why I have not seen the kids for so many years.

He is going to spend the night tonight and then we will go from there to see how long he wants to stay.

This evening we got out a box of his old toys and reminisced a bit. Steph though ti was funny that both of us were in the floor playing.

Now we are Playing Quake on the computer.

Great to hear, and has to be one of the best Father's Day gifts you have ever gotten.  Hope all things work out with him & your daughters.

nope no new kids

Have to admit NJKen wasn't too far off the mark - as good as new?

That's great news (happy dad day).  Looks like he enjoyed spending some quality time with his younger brother.

That's what I'm thinking as well. As good as new and potty trained already.

Good for you Willy, hope it all works out for both of you, and the girls as well.

That is really Cool Willie!   I'm so glad for you and your son.  I hope the relationship will continue and grow.   My Ex tried to keep my son from me, he now lives about 30 miles from us and I spent the day with him yesterday. The sad thing is he very seldom sees his mother.

I have been in this same boat for a few years myself. I have a 10 year old I haven't seen in 7 years. Her mom has told her so much about me she will probably never want to see me. Until that day comes that she can make the choice for herself I am here with open arms.

I'm glad you got that piece of your life back. I have found out no matter how much I try to down play it.... There's still that little piece of me that wants her to be part of my life.

Better get some sun on those drumsticks BBW-squared!!   :smashing_pc:   Looks like all three of ya are busy with something in the 3rd pic!

Great to hear the kids are thinking about coming back around to see ya..  Looks like you had a great day The daughters will come around sometime (Like when they need a car fixed?)

Fathers day was bittersweet yesterday.. On one hand I missed my Dad and our other boys but on the other we had a great 'ole pile of ribeye steaks with my remaining son and his kidlets along with my wife's dad..  I think we still have a couple of the ribeye's left for tonight! :firejumper:   Nom Nom Nom Nom!!

Great to hear about you and your son. I cannot imagine not having my girls with me. I worked away from home 4 days a week for two years and missed a bunch of their lives.

I do sincerely hope it isn't a bunch of he said she said that caused the initial split. Good luck man!

Today was a do nothing day. And I
enjoyed it.

Watched the Daytona 500 and didn't do
much else.

Heath and I had a wrestling match, and
Steph went shopping.

She took the Suburban that has a
mystery problem and went off to Goodwill and Aldis while Heath took a
nap.
She came home with this.
2013-02-24_18-45-03_773_zps5dcbc295.jpg
$8
Our bedroom TV was one that she got in
Georgia years back and it was used then. It had gotten to where we
had to slap it to get it to work half the time. And if something
bright happened on the screen ( explosion, fire, headlights) the
screen would wig out and turn green.

So when she got home I lugged the
monster TV in and we got it set up.

She said the Suburban had an odd smell when she floored it. May have to have a word with her about her driving style. LOL

I had told her that I wanted hamburgers
for supper (she always fusses that I never tall her what I want to
eat) and she said OK as long as I cook them.

So I did.

For those who want the recipe I don't
measure anything when I cook. For the ?'s just guess.

3 pounds of ground beef
2 eggs
About 1 ½ teaspoon minced garlic
? Oregano
? onion flakes
A splash of soy sauce
? Worcestershire sauce
? salt

Form into patties however big you want
them and cook in a cast iron skillet on medium heat until just barely
pink in the center.

Put them on a bun with cheddar cheese (if you use that processed cheese food garbage please don’t tell
me), ad your choice of condiments - I added yellow mustard and dill
relish.

Grab a beer and enjoy.

It just isn't right, me, stuck 100ft in the air, in my crane cab, my 3 meals beside me, (3 salads) and you start talking about wonderful, delicious, Gods gift to man, Good Food! Worse yet, you show me mouth watering pictures. I wounder if the Co. wouldn't mind me having a grill outside my cab on the landing?
