I think I may need a vacation from getting ready to go on vacation.

Today I had to make a run to Troy NC to get the bagger for the TroyBilt so I grabbed my thermos and hit the road.

With Christine in full on pursuit mode I made good time down the road. As I got off the interstate I realized that I had forgotten to buy gas. The gas needle bounces when it is about to run empty. The bounce is usually about half a mile away from walking. Fortunately I didn't take the gas can out of the truck from mowing my friends yard yesterday. I poured it in and went on my way.

And then I thought I had a problem that would spell the end of Christine.

As I turned onto a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, Christine started to make a very bad noise. The 2.8 of fury was clattering like a sack of broken crystal. I shut it off and coasted to a stop and pulled the dipstick. There was no oil at all in her. Steph is supposed to check the oil weekly but she forgot.

Since there was nothing around I pushed her off and rolled down the hill and up the nixt one till it stopped. Then I started it and went over the hill and shut it off again and repeated that for a couple of miles till I got to the house I was going to.

I asked him if he had any oil I could buy and he did so I bought all 4 quarts he had and poured it in. Then I got the bagger and the other stuff he wanted gone – a gas powered edger, 2 trimmers, and a couple of pieces of metal.

Then I crossed my fingers and restarted Christine and hoped the hydraulic lifters would pump back up. She clattered on for about a mile and then smoothed out and ran perfect.

As I got back to Shelby NC I got a text from my friends husband who I sold the tractor to last week. He said it wouldn't run. Had he texted me 10 minutes earlier I was right beside his house. I talked him thru a couple of things and we think that he still had the choke on and was using last years gas. He went to get gas and I haven’t heard back from him yet so I am guessing all is good.

Steph had been taking the Honda CRX apart that we are scrapping tomorrow. We pulled a few more parts off it and then loaded some misc junk in it and then we got to putting lights on the small trailer that is going to Virginia Tuesday.

That trailer has never had lights on it since I bought it. I figured that a long drive was chancing it with law enforcement. Fortunately I had all the lights and wiring I needed already.

Once I had everything all soldered up I came in and experimented with the recipe for the BEST PAN FRIED CHICKEN LIVER EVER. I can't wait till dinner tomorrow.

Sounds to me like Christine is balking a bit on these "full on pursuit" trips. Can I come over for dinner tomorrow?

You are sounding like my Son now, Reling on me to male sure his Oil, Tranny fluid, Wiper fluid, Brakes, tire pressure are all good. He is bad for buying a used car, and bringing it home with no Oil, next it blows a radiator hose, And now it is sitting because he blew a tire, and dosn't have a jack.

Well, Christine is her truck. She usually checks the oil but she forgot. I have enough other engines to worry about.

Glad you adverted a blown engine. I don't have any spare engines here other than a 18 HP opposed. Guess I could make it work in the Mazada Miata :rolling:

This will be a quick update. Been a long day and it isn't done yet.

Got up this morning and there was no coffee we both forgot to go to the store.

Managed to drive to the store with out killing anyone. Got coffee.

Went to the scrap yard. Got rid of the Honda.

Came home. Steph said heath had a slight fever and gave him Motrin.

We went to Hickory and got a car. Got home. Heath got worse. She took him to the ER.

I went to get parts from New restorer to deliver to VA.

Went to the tractor shop with him.

Went to ER because they were still there.

Heath has a tiny spot of pneumonia. They gave him a shot. He screamed for 15 minutes.

Came home.

Now I have to cook all this liver.

Tomorrow – If I survive that long. Have to take the car I got to day apart scrap it and leave for VA.

Wish us luck.
